Pho Vietnam
Our luggage arrived yesterday, followed a few hours later by Steph, Ethan, and Evan. Very exciting on all counts! There were multiple hiccups with their hotel reservation but they ended up in a penthouse suite in the same building as us :)
For dinner we went to Pho Vietnam, which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is a Michelin Star selected restaurant (whatever that means). They had expanded to a bigger location a few stores down from the original, and it was modern feeling and full of tourists (read: white folks).
I thought the food was okay (other peeps enjoyed theirs more than I did mine, though). I ordered pho tai. They use fresh rice noodles which are soft, as opposed to rehydrated noodles that can be made al dente. The meat was a bit tough. The best part was that they provided a nice selection of fresh herbs you don't typically get in Toronto pho joints, like rice paddy herb, ma om, culantro, Thai basil, and holy basil. Dinner and fresh fruit drinks for the 8 of us was only $42 CDN!
